Naomi and I arrived in Okinawa a few days ago and are happy to warm for a change. Sailing here was cold and windy most of the time. Attached is a pic of our perfect sunset dinner and a pic of Naomi when we arrived. (2013.1.20)

沖縄到着

I was sorry to hear of Okuhara san passing away. Naomi and I very much appreciate the fact that he offered us advice about sailing around Japan. Naomi and I have been well. We arrived in Okinawa in January last year, spent several months there before sailing to Yakushima, Amakusa and then Huis ten Bosch where we spent about 10 months. We left Huis ten Bosch six weeks ago and have stopped in Hirado, Odo Marina in Fukuoka, Esaki in Yamaguchi ken, Ooi Marina in Fukui ken, and now we are at Toyama Marina in Toyama ken. We plan on staying here for another few weeks before sailing north and back to Choshi arriving around the end of July. It is unlikely that we will sail around Hokkaido as i don't have enough annual leave to do so. We are also thinking to spend the winter somewhere in Setonaikai and would probably stop by in Velasis Marina again for a week or so on the way. If we do so, I hope that we will have the chance to meet. (2014.5.21)

Just a quick update on our progress.  We arrive at Esashi, Hokkaido yesterday.  We have decided to use all my annual leave and sail around Hokkaido while we are in a position to do so.
Below are some links to pics from our time in Toyama to Esashi.

We arrived in Choshi yesterday and thus finished our sailing trip around Japan in just over 20 months. The green dots on the map of Japan show the locations where we stopped . The hardest part of our voyage was getting into a position where we could do it. We found Okinawa (the main island at least) to be the most overrated part of Japan, and we enjoyed Japan Sea and Hokkaido the most. We didnt get a chance to visit the islands to the south of Okinawa or Izu Islands (both of which are outside the limit of our boats registration), or Setonaiki (Japan inland sea) but hope to do so in the future.
